==生平==
阿佛列·愛德嘉·柯伯德出生於福克斯通（Folkestone），雙親是裁縫和女傭。柯伯德在貧困的情況下長大，後來將他的童年描述為“驚人的貧窮”，而[[弗兰克·奥康纳]]（Frank O'Connor）將柯伯德的童年描繪成“殘酷”。

在1920年代初，他認識[[理查德·休斯]]（Richard Hughes）和[[埃德蓋爾·里克斯]]（Edgell Rickword）等人。
