电厂最脏最累的班组属磨煤班,磨煤班里[[工人]]形形色色,[[性格]]各异,他们的生活为该剧增添了不少色彩。程远是个文科大学毕业分来电厂在磨煤班锻炼的大学生,在工人闹事的事件中,为了讨好厂方领导被磨煤班工友们视为“持不同政见者”,遭到排斥。他的女友袁童芳是个非常可爱的姑娘,一心想把他调到厂办报社共同办报,但程远却颇有心计地投靠了鲁燕,成了多经公司的总经理秘书。已是半老徐娘的鲁燕占有了程远,使程远永远失去了男人的尊严,同时也失去了袁童芳那天使般的爱情。
