在瑞士[[勒羅西]]([[ Le Rosey]])和[[哈佛大學]]接受教育，主修經濟學，之後他成為股票經紀人和眾多公司的董事，如：倫敦太平洋集團，(前身為伯克利戈維特)；Touche，Remnant Holdings；特拉法加之家；和聯合賽馬場。

他曾是 De Zoete and Bevan 的合夥人（1970-82 年）、Cedar Investment Trust（1977-82 年）、Berkeley Development Capital（1984-92 年）和 TR Property Investment Trust（1982-89 年）的主席。從1985年到1990年，他還是肯尼迪紀念信託基金的名譽受託人及其主席。

他于1985年和1987年两次赠送[[麋鹿]]给[[北京]][[南海子麋鹿苑]]，实现了其家族让麋鹿回家的愿望。
從1996年起，他擔任 Woburn 重組後的商業部門 Woburn Enterprises 的董事。
