馬科替跟隨[[馬斯特]]（Blaise Mast）學習，兩兄弟都是十九世紀法國密爾古（Mirecourt）製琴師。
1834年到巴黎替[[剛德]]（Gand）製琴，1844年來到倫敦協助[[戴維斯]]（Davis）製琴<ref>{{cite news | url =https://www.amati.com/en/maker/maucotel-charles| title =Charles Maucotel | author =約翰迪爾沃思 | publisher =www.amati.com | accessdate =2019-03-13}}</ref>。馬科替的提琴，琴漆濃厚，音色優美動聽。退休後回到法國直至逝世。
