诸体之中，潘天寿写得最多、成就最大的当推他奇崛肆意的行草书。他的行草书与画风十分相似，都为奇险中寓平稳的风格。潘天寿的笔法应规入矩而又随势生姿，由于他笔力生涩沉厚和运笔的率真奔放，使他的笔画姿态多样，笔势变幻令人目不暇接，但总的格调是坚挺峭拔，以方折为主。<ref name="刘宗超2008">{{cite book|author=刘宗超|title=中国书法现代创变理路之反思|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=oX1JAQAAIAAJ|date=1 January 2008|publisher=江西美术出版社|isbn=978-7-80749-380-8}}</ref>。<br><br>
