拥有[[英国皇家舞蹈学院]]戏剧舞蹈专业学士学位的杨紫琼，在1984年於香港拍摄了她首部电影《[[貓頭鷹與小飛象]]》。1997年受邀演出007系列影片《[[新鐵金剛之明日帝國|-{zh-hans:新铁金刚之明日帝国; zh-hant:007之明日帝國;}-]]》（Tomorrow Never Dies）的女主角。2000年，演出[[李安]]导演的作品《[[臥虎藏龍]]》再次扬名国际<ref name="KeeHuaChee-2004">{{cite web |author=Kee Hua Chee |date=19 January 2004 |url=http://thestar.com.my/lifestyle/story.asp?file=/2004/1/10/features/7041578&sec=features |title=Her own person |work=The Star |location=Malaysia |accessdate=13 November 2011 |postscript=.
