生涯與發展
沃辛頓本名Samuel Shane Worthington，1976年8月2日出生於英國英格蘭的薩里郡，身高178cm[1]。他童年時舉家移民至西澳洲的洛金漢市（Rockingham）成長，並於位在費利曼圖市（Fremantle）的約翰·科廷表演藝術學校（John Curtin School of Performing Arts）取得學位，接著在雪梨（悉尼）的國家藝術戲劇學院（National Institute of Dramatic Art）修習表演課程。
在1998年自國家藝術戲劇學院畢業後，沃辛頓也參與了由澳洲戲劇公司「Company B」製作的舞台劇《猶大之吻》（Judas Kiss）的演出。
爾後從2000年至2006年間，他參與了澳洲當地的多部電影與電視影集的演出，包括《踢到鐵板》（Bootmen）、《非法交易》（Dirty Deeds）、《Gettin' Square》、《Somersault》和《Macbeth》。沃辛頓在2004年以在《Somersault》中的演出，獲頒澳洲電影學會（Australian Film Institute，AFI）最佳男主角獎項。
沃辛頓的國際演藝生涯從接演一系列好萊塢電影的小角色開始，包括《哈特戰爭》（Hart's War，2002年）和在澳洲拍攝的《搶救前線》（The Great Raid，2005年）等。
2007年，詹姆斯·卡麥隆挑選沃辛頓在科幻電影《阿凡達》（Avatar）中擔任主角。2008年，卡麥隆推薦他在《魔鬼終結者：未來救贖》中飾演馬可仕一角。[2]2016年4月，詹姆斯·卡麥隆宣布將拍攝四部《阿凡達》續集，《阿凡達3》將於2021年12月17日上映、《阿凡達4》將於2024年12月20日上映和《阿凡達5》將於2025年12月19日上映。
2015年7月29日，宣布他將參演由梅爾·吉勃遜執導的二戰電影《鋼鐵英雄》，電影於2015年9月開拍，並於2016年11月上映[3]。
