西化，讀音xī huà，與本土化是相對的概念，西化一詞來自日本，屬於舶來詞，也是東方國家的特色詞語。明治維新時期大規模使用，二戰後的日本停止使用，並且採用現代化這個詞，需要注意的是，西方國家的政府和民間社會（英美法奧西葡）並沒有使用過這個詞語。他們更多表達的是「現代化」。西化並不等同於現代化，就像普世價值不等於西方價值觀。中國要實現的是「現代化」，不是「西化」。

解釋

西化 xī huà

[westernize] 使符合西方標準或西方文化;成為符合西方標準或西方文化的狀態

西化 xīhuà

[westernization] 指仿效歐美的制度、生活方式、語言文字等歐化。指在風俗、習慣、語言等方面模仿並轉變為歐美人的樣子。
