創作背景
1978年，約翰·列儂在紐約達科塔公寓內創作了《Now And Then》並錄製了小樣帶，但從未正式發行。約翰·列儂遇刺後，其遺孀小野洋子於1994年將兩盒磁帶交給了保羅·麥卡特尼，其中一盤磁帶上的歌曲是《Free as a Bird》和《Real Love》，另一盤磁帶上的歌曲則包括《Grow Old with Me 》和《Now and Then》。由於《Grow Old with Me》已經收錄在約翰·列儂和小野洋子於1984年發行的專輯《Milk And Honey》中，披頭士其餘三名成員保羅·麥卡特尼、林戈·斯塔爾和喬治·哈里森便決定對《Now and Then》重新編曲。但是，成員們在製作的過程中遇到了瓶頸，他們無法完整提取約翰·列儂的人聲，這個計劃也就此暫時擱置。
