半血紅絲膜菌是有毒的，因此並不可供食用。其有毒成份與其他有毒絲膜菌，如[[毒絲膜菌]](Cortinarius orellanus)（''Cortinarius orellanus''）等致命[[毒蕈]]的有毒成份相同。如果食用該毒素會破壞人的[[腎臟]]和[[肝臟]]。
