|*The year of birth is the Year of the Dragon, one of the twelve Chinese zodiac signs. There were 425,125 births in Taiwan that year, ranking among the top three regarding the number of newborns in previous years. Since then, the birth rate in Taiwan has gradually declined, and the phenomenon of low birth rates has become increasingly severe. In 2020, the Year of the Rat, the total number of births in Taiwan reached a historical low of 165,249.
*In June 1988, Dr. Lee graduated from Dajia Elementary School in Changhua County and received the County Magistrate's Award for achieving the highest graduation score. At that time, Huang Shih-Cheng was the county magistrate of Changhua County, being the first independent (non-partisan) county magistrate.*From 1988 to 1991, Dr. Lee was a student of the junior and senior high school departments of Ching Cheng High School in Changhua County. He was a fellow graduate of the renowned writer Jiubadao (Giddens Ko) at the same school. The teacher "Lai Dao" Lai Binghui, who appears in Jiubadao's novel and film "You Are the Apple of My Eye," was Dr. Lee's homeroom teacher in the junior high school department. Considering their ages, Jiubadao was Dr. Lee's junior. Interestingly, Lai Dao's daughter was Dr. Lee's classmate in both junior and senior high school departments.*In September 1994, Dr. Lee entered I-Shou University as a freshman, becoming one of the members of the fifth batch since its establishment. This year marked a turning point for higher education in Taiwan, transitioning from "elite education" to "universal education." On April 10, 1994, several civil organizations initiated a large-scale demonstration with four significant demands, one of which was "expanding the number of high schools and universities." Subsequently, Taiwan's education system gradually reformed based on these four demands. As a result, there were originally 23 universities and 35 independent colleges in 1994. As of May 2020, the number of universities has increased to 126, with 14 independent colleges. The "General Scholastic Ability Test" (GSAT), which has been used for many years as a diverse entrance examination system, was implemented in 1994.*In the summer of 1995, Dr. Lee underwent a one-month military training program at Taichung Chenggongling. The Chenggongling Military Training Program for college students was held annually, and Taiwanese college students must complete this military training before graduation. Initially, the training was only conducted for male college students, but in 1997, it was carried out for female college students for the first and last time. After the final military training session in February 1999, the Chenggongling Military Training Program was discontinued and became part of history.*After graduating from the university in 1998 with the fifth-highest overall performance, Dr. Lee was admitted to the Master's program in Computer Science and Information Engineering at Chung Cheng University. He became a student in the tenth batch of the Master's program, with Professor Maw-Shang Chang as the thesis advisor. *Dr. Lee obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from Chung Cheng University in 2000. In the same year, he was admitted to the Ph.D. program in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at Chung Cheng University. He was part of the eighth batch of Ph.D. students in the department. He hosted Dr. Ton Kloks, a Dutch scholar, during the International Computer Symposium organized by Chung Cheng University. This encounter laid the foundation for our research collaboration. Dr. Lee, in 2001, visited the Royal Holloway University of London in the United Kingdom, accompanying Dr. Ton Kloks.
