《what is dancing》是一首兒童歌曲。
兒童歌曲，簡稱兒歌，是以低幼兒童為主要接受對象的具有民歌[1]風味的簡短詩歌。它是兒童文學最古老也是最基本的體裁形式之一，內容多反映兒童的生活情趣，傳播生活、生產知識等。歌詞多採用比興手法[2]，詞句音韻流暢，易於上口，曲調接近語言音調，節奏輕快，有獨唱或對唱，如公認的全球第一兒歌《一閃一閃小星星》[3]。兒歌中既有民間流傳的童謠，也有作家創作的詩歌。

情感教育
兒歌是在乳兒的搖籃旁伴着母親的吟唱而進入兒童生活中的。孩子們隨着年齡的增長，由感知到模仿，最終學會誦唱兒歌，並從中獲得審美感受[4]。但兒歌的內容往往十分淺顯，易為幼兒所理解，或單純集中地描摹、敘述事件，或於簡單有趣的韻語中表明普通的事理。例如，聖野的兒歌《布娃娃》[5]：「布娃娃/不聽話/餵她吃東西/不肯張嘴巴。」於天真稚氣中表達了幼兒對周圍生活的模仿和思考。同時，孩子們在誦唱這首兒歌時馬上就會聯想到自己吃飯的情景，懂得應該養成良好的生活習慣。
兒歌吟唱中，優美的旋律、和諧的節奏、真摯的情感可以給兒童以美的享受和情感薰陶。心理得到滿足。而幼兒唱兒歌，則是情感的外泄過程，並能從中體驗模仿成人的勞作和生活，驗證自己的經驗和記憶。如《小板凳》：「小板凳/真聽話/和我一起等媽媽/媽媽下班回來/我請媽媽快坐下。」這首兒歌抒發了兒童對媽媽依戀、期盼媽媽早點回家的真實情感，從而使兒童學會尊重媽媽，尊重他人，並在外泄感情的過程中獲得教益[6]。
