聖曼陀羅，（學名：Datura wrightii；英語：sacred datura），是曼陀羅屬的一種有毒多年生植物[1] [2] [3] 。

分類
聖曼陀羅是由愛德華·奧古斯特·馮里格爾於1859年從查爾斯·賴特在德克薩斯收集的植物中發現並描述了該物種[4]，並以賴特的名字命名。[5]

聖曼陀羅的學名常記為Datura meteloides[6]，但這是毛曼陀羅的異名。[7]

聖曼陀羅是一種生長迅速的多年生植物(多年生草本植物)[7] ，高可達1.5米[6]，開白色（偶爾為紫色）喇叭型花，有香味，花期為四月到十月，結蒴果[7]。
分布
聖曼陀羅生長於墨西哥北部和毗鄰的美國西南部各州，北至猶他州南部，喜好排水良好的沙質土壤。[7]
聖曼陀羅在澳大利亞新南威爾士州、維多利亞州、南澳大利亞州和西澳大利亞州成為入侵物種。[4]
用途
祖尼人用聖曼陀羅的根磨成的粉，作為麻醉藥，也會將根和花粉製成的藥膏塗抹在傷口上以促進癒合。[9][10]
聖曼陀羅對一些美國原住民來說是一種神聖的植物，在丘馬什人、通瓦人中用於成人禮。當一個丘馬什男孩8歲時，他的母親會給他準備一杯用它製作的藥水。這應該為了保證其精神健康，但一些男孩會被這種曼陀羅屬植物毒死[11]。
祖尼人還將這種植物用於其他各種儀式、魔法和占卜目的。他們會讓被搶劫的人咀嚼這種植物的根以確定小偷的身份。祭司用其根粉祈雨[12]。
藝術
美國藝術家喬治亞·歐姬芙很喜歡聖曼陀羅，她新墨西哥州的房子周圍開滿了野生的聖曼陀羅，它們也頻繁地出現在她的作品中[13]。
2014年，她的一幅聖曼陀羅以4400萬美元的價格售出，創下女性藝術家作品的最高成交記錄[14]。
